FAQs

It’s too late. Why are you even trying?

I have also wondered if we are past the tipping point for redemption on many of these issues and what I keep coming back to is: It doesn’t matter. Regardless of where we may be on that tipping point scale, we have to do everything we can to mitigate and deal with these issues. In some respects, this project appears dystopian, but in essence it is meant to wake us up and to inspire people to discover and implement solutions.

You need more positive information. This is too dark and it made me cry

“Good,” is my response, “it is intended to scare you.” This is a call to action, for we must take these issues extremely seriously and do what we can, now. There are hundreds of solutions offered on a great number of the problems mentioned, but they are stymied by, misinformation, lack of funds, sluggish legislation, and a general malaise from those who just don’t know what to do. This project offers avenues towards what can be done lets people know how to become involved at any level.

Your project is attempting to tackle way too many issues. It’s overwhelming and you can’t succeed!

Yes, there are a dauting array of problems included, but currently no single organization is placing these issues into an interconnected context. TCSI is working to bring hundreds of organizations together to find common ground and forge alliances that can exponentially increase the chances of implementing solutions. This can only be achieved by taking a macro view of all of these concerns.

Younger people are jaded and angry and blame your generation for the problems. Why should they participate or even listen to you?

Communication across the generations is critical for success. Unfortunately our experiences are different, the technology and media we use varies, and even our language is open to interpretation. Allowing those under 35 to be heard, to express their frustrations and fears, and taking those attitudes seriously is a first step towards reconciliation and cooperation. Working together to produce the needed solutions is the only path to success and bridging that generational gap is extremely urgent.

What’s the point of this project? Everyone already knows these issues exist so pointing them out doesn’t improve anything.

It is true that all of us are inundated with the news detailing these problems and, in many ways, that immersion numbs us to acting with regard to implementing solutions. But by personalizing the issues in terms of what our children and grandchildren will inherit brings the need for action to a different level. And by offering specific ways to approach and deal with the problems, we can all move towards a better world
